As you may remember the controversy surrounding KJ Freeman and artists represented by the former gallery HOUSING in my previous article
The conversation has spurred around the concerns if the artist were ever paid or had their artworks returned. As months passed, people speculated whether the NYPD would intervene.
Updates from various sources mentioned that the storage unit and artworks within had been in police custody. Officially released in a public statement made by KJ Freeman they mention that the Storage Unit has been sized by the NYPD and due to cost, they are asking for funding on Gofundme to help delay the risk of the artworks being auctioned off by the storage unit company implying they are delayed on payments.
IKJ Freeman states “ Compounded by unfortunate circumstances, including a significant decline in sales at my former gallery, HOUSING, my storage unit was seized by the NYPD due to the misuse of the courts by artists I formerly worked with. Now, the fate of stored artwork and personal collection hangs in the balance, with the risk of it being auctioned off. This leaves me unable to access my own ability toward livelihood and has lead to refunds I struggle to fulfill.”
