After more than a decade of challenging exhibitions and innovative curation, the Simone Subal Gallery, an art hub in New York’s contemporary art scene located at 131 Bowery 2nd Floor, has announced its closing on June 22.
Founded in 2011 by Simone Subal, the gallery rapidly established itself as a nucleus for avant-garde artistry. Located in the Lower East Side, an area in constant flux and curious revitalization, the gallery became synonymous with cutting-edge exhibits and fostered an environment of artistic daring.
Providing a platform for emerging and established names in the art world, including avant-garde trailblazers like Kiki Kogelnik (Foundation) and Emily Mae Smith.
The gallery has been previously celebrated for its innovative curation and pivotal role in elevating the profiles of lesser-known yet groundbreaking artists. The final exhibition, aptly titled “Lessons,” featuring artist Nova Jiang closes on June 22, 2024.
