Childish Gambino Died For Donald Glover to Live

Writer and Artist Donald Glover is retiring his musical identity, Childish Gambino. On July 18, 2024 he released his final album, ‘Bando Stone & the New World. Glover explained that he no longer finds the Gambino persona fulfilling and felt it was simply time to move on. Various factors influenced his decision such as getting older, having two children, and balancing his music career with family, film, and television commitments.

Donald Glover started as a writer for Tina Fey’s sitcom ’30 Rock’ in 2006, where he worked for three seasons and occasionally appeared onscreen. He also performed under the stage name ‘mc DJ’ before adopting the Childish Gambino persona for his 2008 mixtape, ‘Sick Boi.’ During his music career Donald Glover never fully stepped away from acting and writing as of 2016 he starred and executive produced the TV series Atlanta.
