Judith Bernstein: Public Fears Exhibition at Kasmin Gallery

Kasmin Gallery presents Judith Bernstein: Public Fears, an expansive exhibition running from January 6 to February 15, 2025, at 509 West 27th Street, New York. The show spans nearly 60 years of Bernstein’s career, featuring new works, monumental drawings, and the restaging of her iconic Signature Piece (1986).

Judith Bernstein’s provocative work explores the intersections of politics and sexuality. Notable achievements include her monumental Horizontal (1973), recently acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2023, and her upcoming major retrospective at Kunsthaus Zurich in 2026.

Exhibition Highlights

• New Series: Death Heads, introspective paintings on mortality, blending cultural and art historical references from Edvard Munch to military gas masks.

• Charcoal Masterpieces: Three Panel Vertical (1977), revisiting Bernstein’s celebrated phallic screw drawings, icons of feminist protest and anti-war critique.

• Historic Works: Pieces from her Fuck Vietnam and Union Jack-Off Flags series (1960s), rooted in anti-war dissent and sharp political commentary.

Exhibition Opening: January 6, 2025

Exhibition Closing: February 15, 2025

Gallery Location: Kasmin Gallery, 509 West 27th Street, New York
