A Legendary Cellist Joel Krosnick Dead at 84

Renowned cellist Joel Krosnick, a pioneer in contemporary classical music, has left an indelible mark on the world of classical music. His remarkable legacy, marked by a life dedicated to music and a profound impact on the art form, will be deeply felt for years to come.

As a member of the Juilliard Quartet from 1974 to 2016, Krosnick played a pivotal role in shaping the course of classical music. His passion for contemporary music led him to premiere works by esteemed composers such as Milton Babbitt, Elliott Carter, Roger Sessions, Stefan Wolpe, and Charles Wuorinen.

Krosnick’s influence on classical music extends beyond his discography.  He also dedicated time as a teacher at New York’s Juilliard School, he mentored countless students who went on to become accomplished musicians in their own right.
