“Milk Bottle” Icon Joe Goode a Californian Pop art painter has died at 87.

Joe Goode, an artist who left an indelible mark on the Pop art movement has passed away at 87. His iconic “Milk Bottle” series is well known and has inspired generatioGoode’s artistic journey began in Los Angeles, where he studied at Chouinard Art Institute (now CalArts) and was mentored by notable artists. His early work featured everyday subjects, a hallmark of his oeuvre.

Goode’s “Milk Bottle” series, started in 1961, blurred the line between painting and sculpture, earning recognition alongside Andy Warhol and others in the groundbreaking 1962 exhibition “New Painting of Common Objects.”

Goode’s artistic output was marked by experimentation and pushing boundaries. His notable series, including “Staircases” (1964) and “Clouds” (1967-76), showcased his preoccupations with transparency, environmental change, and the ephemeral nature of the sky. Goode’s work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums worldwide, including MoMA, LACMA, Whitney Museum, and V&A Museum. His art is held in these institutions’ collections, ensuring his legacy endures for generations to come.
