The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, a highly anticipated cultural institution, has been rocked by unexpected layoffs just as it was gearing up for its grand opening. The sudden developments have left employees reeling and raised questions about the museum’s uncertain future.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the mass layoffs unfolded in a chaotic manner on Thursday morning. Employees were summoned into meetings with human resources, only to be informed that their jobs had been terminated and given just hours to vacate the premises.
Founded by filmmaker George Lucas in 2013, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art aimed to showcase a diverse collection of narrative art from around the world. Construction began in 2014, and the museum was initially slated to open its doors in 2020.
