Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist at the Brooklyn Museum

The Brooklyn Museum presents Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist and All That It Implies, a retrospective honoring the life and work of the influential sculptor, printmaker, feminist, and activist. The exhibition runs through January 19, 2025, in the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art and Morris A. and Meyer Schapiro Wing.

Over 200 Works featuring sculptures, prints, and rarely seen pieces that showcase Catlett’s commitment to social justice and activism. Celebrating Catlett’s dedication to amplifying marginalized voices through bold, powerful art. Including inspiration from African sculpture, Barbara Hepworth, and Käthe Kollwitz.

A 304-page publication delves into Catlett’s artistic journey, with essays exploring her role as an artist-activist and her work during political exile. Published by the University of Chicago Press.
